The Old City Hall was built in the 1860s, which is the first public cultural center in Hong Kong and has been serving Hongkongers for decades. Different from the Baroque architectural style of the first generation, the second generation Hong Kong City Hall built a hundred years later is a functionalist building. Its design emphasizes simplicity and practicality, in order to arrange more facilities for the benefit of the citizens. The glass windows of the Hong Kong City Hall looks like a mosaic art piece from a distance.

 初代香港大會堂早於1860年代建成，為香港首座公共文娛中心，多年 來一直服務香港市民。有別於初代的仿巴洛克建築風格，百年後建成 的第二代大會堂屬功能主義建築，設計強調簡約實用，務求在有限空 間安排更多惠民設施，整排密麻麻的玻璃窗構成的外牆，遠看令人想 起一格格的馬賽克藝術畫。
