The Ward Memorial Church and Welfare Centre in Yau Ma Tei was built in the 60s. The architect used common materials and techniques at that time, including exposed beams, columns and concrete walls. The biggest architectural feature is its external wall consists of countless crosses, which can not only clearly show the building’s identity, but is also functional for blocking the sunlight. The column-free interior space formed by utilizing architectural techniques fully integrates art and practicality.
